Arbe Kirolak wins the PREMIUM WINDOW DRESSER AWARD 2012
PREMIUM is especially delighted to announce the winners of this year’s PREMIUM WINDOW DRESSER AWARD 2012: Arbe Kirolak, consisting of Maddalen and Jon Joseba Arakama from Legazpi, Spain.
In early July of this year, PREMIUM announced its third open invitation to participate in the PREMIUM WINDOW DRESSER AWARD and, by the middle of August, received countless applications. These reflected the extraordinary creative potential of classic window decorators to students, set designers, graphic artists, architects and artists.
From among the many creative applications, three finalists were selected: Agency Aletja Plus from Berlin, Design Agency Heckhaus from Munich and Arbe Kirolak from Legazpi, Spain.
These three finalists proved their ability and creativity in the final round. Each of the three finalists presented his/her concept in a display window of F95 The Fashion Store at STATION-Berlin.
More than 2,000 votes were cast, from the 5th of September until the 5th of October, online at www.premiumexhibitions.com and on site at F95 The Fashion Store before the October 5 deadline.
Arbe Kirolak
By a wide margin, the winners were two young Spaniards, Arbe Kirolak, who have just begun their carrier as window decorators but were able to convince everyone with their creative concept.
In cooperation with the Galeries Lafayette, PREMIUM is giving the two winners the chance – in January 2013, in time for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin – to decorate the windows of this tradition-steeped department store on the legendary Friedrichstraße and enjoy wider public attention.
The siblings Maddelen and Jon Joseba come from Legazpi, a small village in northern Spain. Maddelen studied architecture there and was employed at two architectural bureaus. Jon Joseba studied electrical engineering and later, over the course of four years, managed two different fashion stores in Bilbao. Today the two of them run the family business Arbe Kirolak, a store for sports fashion. Now they are ready to take on the new challenge of creating an architecture and design bureau together.
